Abstract

This paper describes the second year of development of a technology-based tool for assessing inferencing in students in kindergarten through 2nd grade. We present results from our Year 2 data collection and the development of the assessment. In Year 1, we piloted two eight-item fiction assessment modules with n = 93 first- and second-grade students. From the pilot we revised our items to create 2 forms (each with 16 fiction, and 16 non-fiction items). In Year 2, we presented our revised assessments to n = 172 K-2nd grade students. Results showed adequate psychometric properties and highlight the potential of the assessment to be used in applied settings.
