Research on cycles - three, four, and five (of the eight) for Power to the Profession, an initiative to unify a birth to age eight competency-based framework of career pathways as a foundation for comprehensive policy and financing strategies follows the first two cycles of this initiative which culminated in significant consensus support for the name “Early Childhood Educator” and for professional boundaries. Yet, for these three cycles, data from stakeholders (task force 15 organizations; 22 focus groups; 1,296 survey respondents; 4,000 individual comments & interviews; 24 formal letters) varied as to: minimum qualifications (Two or four year higher education or community-based) with related competencies and responsibilities, including whether there should be three entry Early Childhood Educator level pathways.
