This study reports findings from a district initiative focused on applying a continuous improvement approach to family engagement efforts. School teams were trained and coached in how to apply a Cycle of Inquiry process in planning and implementing family engagement activities focused on supporting families during students’ transition from middle to high school. The study involved analyses of qualitative data from cycle of inquiry reflections about 35 family engagement activities conducted by 19 participating middle and high schools. Short completed reports summarizing schools’ experience and learning during plan-do-study-act cycles were coded according to identified themes. The paper reports descriptive findings from analyses of the qualitative data, and summarizes conclusions about school staff learning from the cycles of inquiry.
