STEM (Science, Math, Engineering, and Mathematics) education is becoming increasingly popular in academia and has research based support, yet it is not a common pedagogy used in schools. In recent years, the school–university partnership has become one of the most prevalent strategies for educational change in English countries (Zelleramayer & Margolin, 2005). In this study, teachers and a researcher engaged in Collaborative Action Research to develop STEM curriculum as part of a year long professional development model. We chose this model because we believed that collaborative research meant research should be done with the teacher instead of on the teacher which is too often the documented case in educational research. We argue that partnerships are the vehicle to drive stem education.
