The Career Adapt-Abilities Scale (CAAS) is a career development competence measure originated from programmatic international studies involving many countries around the world. In this study, the multidimensional item response theory was used to validate the latent structure of the CAAS. A large dataset of 10,869 students collected from 151 high school in Hong Kong was used in the analyses. Furthermore, analyses were conducted to examine students’ responses to ensure measurement invariance across gender. The results confirmed the underlying structure of CAAS as a measure of career adaptability with four dimensions which is consistent with the theoretical assumption. The results of measurement invariance analysis indicated that there was no evidence of gender covariance.
