Abstract

This interactive poster offers preliminary results of an ABER field study that examines the didactic conceptualization and artistic provocations of José Val del Omar (Granada, 1904- Madrid 1982), a Spanish filmmaker who dedicated his life to improving the educational system through the application of film techniques as a pedagogic tool for student inquiry. He tried to democratize the presence of imaging technologies in schools and museums focusing on key methods related to the use of projection systems for the improvement of learning. His visionary approach connects to contemporary visual culture and educational movements, and continues to inspire the development of new methodological propositions that prioritize the sensorial of imaging systems in arts-based teaching and research today.
