Abstract

SciGirls Code is a two-year project (2016-2018) which integrates computational participation and connected learning frameworks to support 16 STEM outreach partners in providing 160+ middle school girls and their educators with computational thinking (CT) and coding skills with outside/after school programming. The research study investigates the ways in which learning experiences impact girls’ development of computational thinking; interests and attitudes toward computer science; and their understanding of how participation in creation with technology impacts themselves and the world around them. Case study analyses of two programs (Team Lynx and Team Draco) are featured in this paper.
