Sun, April 7, 9:55 to 11:25am, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 800 Level, Hall G

Abstract

It is important to understand Chinese teacher education reforms in the global context to inform teacher educators and policy makers in China about lessons from other parts of the world. At the same time, the different policies and practices in China, if any, can also serve counter-narratives to struggle against the global assault on teaching and teacher education. To address these two issues we provide a preliminary analysis of Chinese teacher education reform in the global context, considering the extent to which teacher education reform in China reflects global neoliberal ideology and praxis of education.
