Abstract

This study provides an in-depth evaluation of a multi-component school-based intervention program designed for high-risk high school students. The three major intervention components focused on improving school, societal, and personal conditions. The data consisted of 132 high-risk students. The evaluation of the program involved quantitative and qualitative techniques. Hierarchical modeling results show that after the intervention, female students improved their GPA (t = 2.26, p < .027). The students’ approach to resolving conflicts improved (t = 2.31, p < .034). Qualitative results indicate that despite their different backgrounds, team members managed to cooperate toward reaching a common goal. Overall, this intervention program improved students performance by continuous team reinforcement involving family, community, teachers and peers.
