Unchartered Waters: Comparing the Civic Achievement of Traditional Public Schools and Charter Schools in a Post-Truth Era

Mon, April 8, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 200 Level, Room 201A

Abstract

Utilizing the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) data, this study examined whether significant differences exists in the 2014 NAEP civics results between traditional public schools and charter schools. Since the NAEP data, which provides a national sample of 9,100 students, is collected using a probability sample design, sampling weights are adjusted so inferences can be appropriately made. Sample sizes within NAEP are large enough to generate adequate power for statistical significance.
