Social Justice Teacher Education (SJTE) and Practice-based Teacher Education (PBTE) iterated around the same time, and yet their potential for convergence has been left unexplored. Employing critical qualitative research methods, this paper proposal explores the ways in which pre-service teachers happen to leverage core practices (e.g., Grossman, 2018) in enacting their equity-oriented professional visions of their teaching (e.g., Hammerness, 2001). In employing core practices that further their learning and larger aims for teaching, they provide ways for teacher educators to conceptualize how support pre-service teachers not only in learning the practice, but situating them in their schooling contexts and orienting them towards equity in education.
