What Do You See Now? Using Narrative to See Changes in Former Teachers' Perspectives

Abstract

This study uses narrative techniques to examine anecdotes told by invested leavers: certified, experienced teachers who left teaching after making significant investments in the career. Our analysis shows a shift in perspective through the careers of these former teachers based on the anecdotes they told. As these teachers moved beyond the survival period of the career, the primary sources of conflict changed from students to adults.
