Illich coined the term Deschooling Society, which served as backbone for his introduction in the academia. In all his texts, Illich explains the meaning of the term and investigates the different ways by which he argues that institutional structures are mostly harmful for society. Schooling is no exception to it. The paper examines the myths of schooling which Illich used against institutional schooling. The paper concludes with the discussion on the concept of Paideia which Illich favors as alternative of institutional schooling.
