Families` home (learning) environment (HLE) is a central predictor of child development (Sammons et al., 2015). Structural characteristics and parental self-efficacy (PSE) play an important role for the HLE (Kluczniok et. al., 2013; Peacock-Chambers et al., 2017). Often disadvantaged families provided a less enhanced HLE (Rodriguez & Tamis-Lemonda, 2011). This study investigates the relation between structural characteristics and the HLE with PSE as a mediator based on 224 parent questionnaires. Results showed that PSE and the participants` educational level but the not migration background were related to the HLE. PSE mediated the relation from migration background to HLE, but no direct relation between migration background and HLE was found. Results suggests the importance to enhance PSE and education.
