Abstract

John Dewey developed a theory of democracy and education in the Early Works that has largely been ignored No existing account combines Dewey’s early essays on democracy and on education into a unified theory of democracy and education. This paper provides a clear account of Dewey’s early theory of democracy and education, marking some important connections to his mature works.
