This study examines variation in organizational climate as measured by discipline, teacher turnover, student mobility and absences. We explore climate by probing trends in the racial/ ethnic/economic profile of the school over an 18-year period. Using district and school data, we examine these variables in relationship to trends occurring in the larger demographic context of a region in Texas. We further discuss the implications of these trends for equity and opportunity for underrepresented groups in Texas and for states in the midst of massive demographic growth.
