Life Writing as Transforming Experiences for Curriculum-Making and Educational Inquiries

Mon, April 20, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

This paper explores life writing as both a way for curriculum making and a qualitative approach to educational inquiries. Over six years the researcher engaged with graduate students in her curriculum development and qualitative methodologies courses, with a focus on questions we either borrowed or revised from Hasebe-Ludt, Chambers, and Leggo(2009). Namely, what is the curriculum of being human? what can life writing with and along each other do to us and to our relations? how can life writing contribute to curriculum development and “an ethos for our time? how can life writing help us know the world differently and dwell within our environment mindfully and creatively, and “be at home in the world without causing harm?”
