Session Type: Symposium
Over the past eight years, California developed and implemented a different kind of K-12 policy framework than did the rest of the country. The proposed symposium will view the California Way through the eyes of different constituency groups: state policy, research, capacity building, and practice. The symposium will include the former President of the California State Board of Education, researchers, the head of a statewide/state-funded technical assistance entity, and local education leaders who implemented the state’s vision. Panelists will describe their role in policy development and/or implementation with a focus on leadership and lessons for both California and other states.
