In this panel, we examine the relationship between cultivating our vital life force and environmental protection, holistic development of students, and leadership training. The underlying thread that connects the papers is the idea that our place in the ecosystem of earth is sustained by a vital life force, which propels all lives and our spirit. We have however forgotten our deep connection with nature and with our fellow citizens’ inner souls and essence. Through contemplative inquiry turning inward to connect with our high Self, we recover the capacity to love nature and bond with each other at the existential and energetic level, entering a field of interbeing indwelling each others’ body, emotions and relationships (Bai et al, 2009).
