Session Type: Symposium
When discussing inclusion in schools, the focus is on different heterogeneity dimensions (UNESCO, 1994). To ensure that all students in school can be treated equally, social participation is a key issue in this context (Bossaert, Colpin, Pijl, & Petry, 2013). Therefore, the main aim of the symposium is to examine students’ social participation from different perspectives (e.g. students, teachers, specialists, and paraprofessionals). To this end, the symposium reflects both the current situation (social interactions, social relationships/friendships, the acceptance of students by their peers and the perception of acceptance by their peers) and possible intervention to support students’ social participation.
