Session Summary

Promiscuous Research: Reimagining the Study of Higher Education Through Philosophical Misbehaving

Sat, April 18, 4:05 to 5:35pm, Virtual Room

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

Promiscuous research, methodological transgressions of technicity and stasis (Ahmed, 2006; Childers, Rhee, & Daza, 2013b), carries transformative capacities for higher education. Playing in the ruins of positivism (St. Pierre & Pillow, 2000), this session fractures, unsettles, contorts, kneads and splinters research beyond recognition. We engage in this work to incite worldmaking in higher education that lives up to the critical desires of research utilizing bounded method systems, to include both bounded mainstream research and bounded interpretations of the posts. Papers utilize methodologies of faithfulness, the profane, and poetics.
