Session Summary

Interpretive Case-Based Modeling: A New Method for Exploring Stakeholder Collaboration Through a Complexity Lens

Mon, April 20, 4:05 to 6:05pm, Virtual Room

Session Type: Workshop

Abstract

Interpretive Case-based Modeling offers a new method for investigating stakeholder relationships in education systems. The method combines case study and multi-mediator agent-based modeling with an interpretive interactionism research design to provide a new way for exploring collaboration in education systems through a complexity lens. Workshop participants will get to experience Interpretive Case-based Modeling as a group process. The workshop is ideally suited to educators and researchers who have experience in a management or central support role within their current educational institution. In the workshop session, participants will be asked to share a personal experience about the implementation of a recent change initiative within their institution, apply this lived experience to a computer model simulation and then discuss what insights emerge.
