Session Type: Symposium
The community schools movement is equity-driven place-based approach to public education, with an intentional focus to address conditions for learning and educational opportunities, and to put the voices of students, teachers, families, and communities central to the school governance, support structures, and the broader family-school-community ecosystem. This symposium will highlight the latest quasi-experimental and case study research situated in three large urban areas focused on the community schools’ culture, climate, family-school-community partnerships, and the role the community schools movement plays in public education as an equity and social justice strategy. Three studies will be featured following a cross-panel dialogue and an audience discussion.
