Liberation Drum Circles: Reimagining Freirean Culture Circles

Abstract

Liberation Drum Circles are a reimagination of a Freirean Culture Circle and explore the possibilities that it might afford learners when in pursuit of reading the word and the world. This session aims to connect the symbiotic relationship between the political nature of critical pedagogy, the connecting nature of music making and the redirection of power when people engage in participatory action.
