Session Type: Symposium
This interactive session focuses on complex, “wicked problems” facing educators and researchers who collaboratively seek to improve language and literacy outcomes of young children (ages 3-7) in early childhood classrooms. The session considers perspectives from the fields of implementation science and design research, theoretical perspectives specifically designed to address complex problems related to human behavior. Three research studies will be presented that include early phases of development work through initial efficacy trials of innovative approaches. All studies featured researchers and educators working to solve critical problems and evaluation using randomized controlled trials. Discussion will consider challenges and lessons learned from these studies as well as important, unsolved educational problems facing early childhood education.
