Session Type: Symposium
This symposium describes tensions that emerge in the process of working in partnership with students and teachers in the context of curricular development and university-level departmental transformations. Negotiating these relationships can be fraught; even as we aim to challenge hierarchies sanctioned within institutional and/or cultural practices, we can sometimes reproduce them in the context of the partnership. We discuss these tensions across several co-design settings (curriculum design, teaching, departmental change) using a variety of analytical approaches and perspectives. In better understanding the process of collaborative partnership as well as emergent tensions, we will self-critically reflect on areas for growth to help us work toward more responsible partnership in our future work.
