Fri, April 17, 4:05 to 5:35pm, Virtual Room

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

This symposium aims to center feminist of color methodologies, primarily utilized by emerging womxn of color scholars, in an effort to center intersectional approaches to pursuing research foregrounding race and gender. This session is focused on the process by which womxn of color scholars have come to understand, utilize, and sustain feminist theory and methodology in their work. By operating through a lens of a feminist politic, whereby the personal is political (Lorde, 2007; Alexander, 2006; hooks, 2000), presenters will discuss how feminist of color epistemologies have informed their identity as womxn of color scholars, resistance to white, patriarchal norms in the academy, and efforts to foster collective networks of support among womxn of color.
