Session Type: Invited Speaker Session
At AERA 2019, Dr. Amy Stuart Wells challenged researchers to “reimagine education and how it is measured. We need to reexamine what and who is defined as deviant, and excluded. We need to connect the research to the practice.” Responding to this call-to-action, Division D’s Equity and Inclusion Committee has organized a panel of speakers who will examine educational measurement and research methodologies in relation to equity, inclusion, and social justice, including implications for praxis.
Researchers from various agencies and institutions, representing diverse geographic contexts (various regions, and urban, rural, and suburban communities), will explore a range of social justice issues, including gender-based inequalities, LGBTQ+ topics, race and ethnicity, immigration and un(der)documented populations, bilingual communities, and socioeconomic class-based disparities.
