Mission High School is one of the most racially and linguistically diverse high schools in San Francisco, and it is one of few local public schools with both a Newcomer pathway and multiple tiers of support for students with diverse learning needs. The school is committed to anti-racist teaching and building deep, meaningful relationships with students, families, and community partners. Every week, some teachers engage in professional learning communities to grow their practice while others meet as a grade-level team to support a cohort of students. This visit to Mission High School will include a tour of the school, five 20-minute observations of classes across content areas and grade levels, and a conversation with the principal, an instructional coach, and available teachers. AERA Participants should allow at least 15 minutes for travel by car OR at least 30 minutes for travel by public transportation (BART to 16th and Mission OR Muni J Train to Church and 18th). Parking is not permitted at the school and parking in the surrounding area is limited to 2 hours. The visit to Mission High School begins promptly at 8:30 am.
