Session Type: Invited Speaker Session
This session explores the different pathways to professionalization and socialization across multiple professions, representing disciplines in health, law, teachers, and engineering. Professionalization refers to the acquisition of knowledge, skills, identities, norms, and values associated with a specific profession. As learners train toward becoming professionals, they develop methodological and substantive expertise consistent with the culture and expected standards for performance within their field. Understanding similarities and differences in professional identity formation and the educational science associated with meeting the core principles of the profession can create effective pathways for professionalization.
Presenters will discuss professionalization from their specific disciplines and offer insights on educational innovation processes.
