Fri, April 17, 12:00 to 1:30pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

Principals are likely to experience stress and burnout early in their careers, and to have significant misgivings about their readiness to lead and their ability to cope with the challenges faced in the current educational environment (Gallup, 2017). Principal preparation programs must ensure that pre-service school leaders develop the necessary skills to exhibit effective leadership from day one so they can enjoy their work and develop long-term commitment to the profession. a significant question for the field of educational leadership and management is how to help school leaders cope with their own stress and well-being, This current study seeks to gain a baseline understanding of how future K-12 school leaders in pre-service preparation programs address their own well-being.
