Immigrant Status and Perceptions of the Campus Diversity Climate for First-Generation College Students

Abstract

This study utilizes the data from the Student Experience in the Research University (SERU) to examine the relationship between immigration status, first generation status and students’ views of the campus diversity climate. Findings revealed first generation college students who are immigrants or who had parents that are immigrants were likely to have negative perceptions of the campus climate.
