Middle school professors shared edTPA portfolio from three institutions from the 2018-2019 academic years. edTPA (education Teacher Performance Assessment) is a national portfolio assessment that gauges pre-service teachers' abilities to plan for, teach, and assess student learning (SCALE, 2013). [STATE] is a state that requires edTPA for licensure across all public institutions. In our institutions, edTPA is used as a key assessment to identify candidates’ pedagogy strengths, as required by CAEP. “Currently there are 877 Educator Preparation Programs and 41 states and the District of Columbia participating in edTPA” (SCALE, 2019, n.p.). We compared middle school candidates’ edTPA scores to national scores. We then identified areas of strengths and weaknesses and provided recommendations for improving candidates’ scores.
