In today’s world, data is a powerful resource to make informed decisions. Data analytics (DA) is a field of study focused on identifying and interpreting trends and patterns within big data to make data-driven decisions. In this paper, we show how a strategic partnership –formed by university, schools and social stakeholders- designed, implemented and evaluated an innovative project for teaching and learning DA in secondary education. A total of 30 spanish, 14-15 year-old students participated in the study. A pre-post knowledge test was applied to figure out how students were capable of solving real-life issues through data-drive decisions. Our findings show significant improvement of the students’ DA skills. Futhermore, the paper discusses key educational implications to design effective statistical pedagogy.
