Mon, April 20, 8:15 to 9:45am, Virtual Room

Abstract

Providing all K-12 students with computer science (CS) opportunities l has gained momentum in recent years and has become a driving force behind the profusion of programs, curricula, and tools now available to schools. Yet, we are in the early days of coming to consensus about what we mean by CS education and how we will reach All students. This study addresses the challenges and strategies of including students with disabilities as part of the definition of all. Findings include: (a) instructional coaching was critical for CS implementation, (b) challenges were often not related to CS, but were more general, and (c) teachers leveraged student collaboration to include students with disabilities in CS activities as the most common inclusion approach.
