This proposal reports on an ongoing multi-year ethnographic study aimed at better understanding the data-rich teaching and learning in an alternative learning environment. In particular, this study is focused on the teaching and learning of golf instructors and students in a Golf Teaching and Research Center (GTRC) located at a large mid-Atlantic university. In this proposal, we specifically focus on how data is embodied and “felt” by golf students and instructors. This focus offers a complimentary account of datafied teaching and learning in personalized learning settings, and we argue that the golf instructor’s attunement to their student’s learning in-the-moment offers a unique perspective on being in-time with data.
