This paper will present information on efforts to develop and implement Culturally Responsive Restorative Practices (CRRP) within the Austin Independent School District (AISD) during the 2018-19 school year. This project is a collaborative effort between AISD, the University of Texas at Austin, and the American Institutes for Research. The presenters will describe CRRP within the context of an early-phase Education, Innovation, and Research grant, focusing on implementation findings from the initial year of relationship building within the 10 participating schools. Presenters will also describe their experiences working together to develop, implement, and refine a CRRP model in diverse settings, and to test the impact of CRRP on students’ behavioral and academic outcomes, as well as school climate.
