Half of all refugees admitted by the U.S. since 2016 are children. Ensuring a prosperous socioeconomic future onwards for these students heavily depends on the education they receive in the schools. However, if refugees are resettled by the government in cities that are gentrifying, the displacement continues for refugee students. By conducting interviews with educators in a gentrifying school district and educators from a neighboring school district, this study aims to understand how schools are perceiving and addressing the needs of refugee students. This study will shed light on the internal processes and everyday decision-making of educators when it comes to identifying and fulfilling the needs of refugee students.
