Mechanical Schema: University/K–12 School District Partnership Model

Tue, April 21, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

The need for research on creating and perpetuating school/university partnerships designed to enhance leadership preparation and increase student achievement has been well established (Thompson, 2016; Jacobson & Cypress, 2012). Also, it has become increasingly apparent that there is a gap in viable partnership models with which organizations might pattern educational collaborations (Barnett, Hall, Berg, & Camarena, 2010). This case study examined the partnership, of one university and 15 school districts, in order to identify the aspects of the process that acted as catalysts and those that served as hindrances. The results were further utilized to craft a model to explain how the factors of the partnership are related, the participants’ roles, and the interaction among all of the partnership elements.
