According to Holland’s RIASEC model vocational interests are crucial for vocational decisions and can best be described using six dimensions: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising and Conventional. The RIASEC model is widely used in career counseling and is based on the assumption that the six RIASEC dimensions can be arranged hexagonally reflecting their psychological similarity. The current study tests this assumption for adolescent refugees in Germany (n = 859) in comparison to adolescents in Germany without (n = 7976) and with migration (but not refugee) background (n = 3593). Results indicate a significant model fit for refugees. Implications for career counseling for refugees in Germany are discussed.
