Supporting Mathematics Teacher Noticing Skills Through Video-Based Interventions: A Review of the Literature

Tue, April 21, 8:15 to 9:45am, Virtual Room

Abstract

Video has served a critical role in the education of teachers for over 50 years. For instance, teacher educators have used video to model expert teaching, engage teachers in analyzing lessons, create field recordings, and develop specific case studies to prepare future teachers. In this paper, we present the results of an integrative review of the literature and provide a summary and synthesis of the research on the use of video in mathematics teacher education specifically to support mathematics teacher noticing.
