Attitude of Parents of Autism Spectrum Disorder Children Toward Computing Devices

Abstract

This study interviewed seven families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) about the utilization of computing devices and how they impact their academic, personal, or social behavior. Computing devices (e.g, iPads and smartphones) are highly used as part of children’ daily routines. These devices have been keenly adopted by parents for educational purposes and as reward. The results suggest that parents are not adequately prepared to assist their kids use of computing devices due to lack of support and resources.
