This study explores the development of a community of inquiry in online health education courses in the National Network of Libraries of Medicine. The goal of the NNLM is to advance the progress of medicine and improve public health by providing U.S. health professionals with equal access to biomedical information and improving individuals' access to information to enable them to make informed decisions about their health. In this multiple case study, we selected four most popular NNLM classes as our cases, adopted the Community of Inquiry (CoI) as our conceptual framework to explore how librarians develop social, cognitive, and teaching presences. Our results will inform future iterations of online teaching in medical libraries.
