Pedagogical and Leadership Practices. A Mighty Love: Culture, Community, and Liberatory Practices Among Educators of Color

Abstract

My chapter examines three key aspects of EOC educational philosophy and praxis. These three aspects manifest as philosophical, pedagogical, and leadership practices that: 1) invoke and activate cultural memory; 2) emphasize community and collective engagement; 3) are insurrectionist and liberatory. Past and current research on the critically- and culturally-informed pedagogical and leadership practices of EOC calls attention to and highlights the ways in which they understand and act in the educational and cultural interests of Students, Educators, and Communities of Color.
