More than a trend or knee-jerk reaction to issues, wellbeing has the power and potential to impact critical challenges facing us in our individual identities, within diverse communities and as global citizens for the sustainability of our planet. In institutional settings, holistic education provides a framing for promoting a range of wellness practices. A focus on contemplative practices across diverse international contexts enables identification of similarities and differences that lead to insights spanning micro to macro system levels. Contributing papers from New Zealand, Australia and the US explore the desirability and feasibility of contemplative practices to create powerful interpretations of wellbeing and to enhance the potential of holistic education.
