With greater attention on accountability in PK-12 schools, there is a great need to close gaps in access, attainment, and achievement (Holcomb-McCoy, 2007). As such, school counselors have been charged to help address those gaps by using advocacy, leadership, and collaboration to bring about systemic change through comprehensive school counseling (ASCA, 2019; McMahon et al., 2014). Collaboration with school principals provides opportunities for school counselors to foster partnerships that maximize resources and student support from educational stakeholders within and outside of schools. As collaboration is key to school counseling and educational leadership practice, it must be a key aspect of school counselor and principal work to improve schools to meet students’ social, emotional, academic, and career and college readiness needs.
