Session Type: Symposium
In this symposium, the UW Community Arts Collaboratory team will share the results of five initial research projects. Joined by national arts education experts we will address the following key questions: 1) What does social and emotional learning (SEL) look like in arts classrooms?; 2) What do teachers need to do to integrate SEL with fidelity to the developmental needs of students?; 3) How do we recognize, measure and assess SEL and arts skill development?; 4) What can the arts teach us about effective SEL-rich practices and spaces?; and 5) how do we translate SEL learning through the arts into online contexts?
