Session Summary

Women in Leadership Across the Continents Undertaking Educational Responsibility

Sun, April 11, 10:40am to 12:10pm EDT (10:40am to 12:10pm EDT), SIG Sessions, SIG-International Studies Paper and Symposium Sessions

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

This session offers new insights into the means by which women as citizen-scholars in leadership seek to interrogate and address educational responsibility in their countries. Addressing AERA’s theme, “Accepting Educational Responsibility,” and the International Studies SIG’s mission, the session features five research investigations from Costa Rica, Fiji, Ireland, Pakistan, and Rwanda. These investigations examine scholarship that engages with a variety of stakeholders in these countries, leading to the transformation of education in authentic ways for the public good. Presenters explore how scholars in higher education in several international contexts and from diverse cultures share common ethical perspectives on the moral imperative to embrace educational responsibility through efforts that result in actionable narratives, policies, and practices.
