The Division F Fireside Chat will concentrate on the challenges students of color encounter in navigating their graduate studies. It has been heavily documented that graduate students of color are not only underrepresented in higher education but are also faced with feelings of isolation, microaggressions, and other manifestations of structural racism. Students of color often feel pressured to be “twice as good,” while facing more scrutiny and receiving less support than their white counterparts. Panelists will discuss their own backgrounds and strategies to improve the academic experience of students of color as they navigate graduate school.
