Building Evaluation Capacity in the Early Childhood Field to Enhance System Effectiveness

Fri, April 9, 10:40am to 12:10pm EDT (10:40am to 12:10pm EDT), International Aligned Associations, Canadian Society for the Study of Education - ACDE/CCSE

Session Type: Invited Speaker Session

Abstract

Children’s early experiences and environments profoundly impact their development; therefore, ensuring the wellbeing of children through effective early support and services is critical. Evaluation is an integral part of this work, as it is a tool that can be used to understand the effectiveness of practices, programs, and policies. This symposium will detail the process of engaging an interdisciplinary partnership to build evaluation capacity in the early childhood field. Specifically, we will share learnings from: (1) developing the partnership to inform gaps in knowledge and priority areas for capacity building; (2) co-creating innovative models of evaluation education for diverse learners across contexts; and (3) exploring community-driven and culturally responsive approaches to evaluation capacity building for improved system effectiveness.
